So far Expired Foods has only taken a look at foods consumed by humans. But every once in a while you come across something that just can't be ignored. Since we all have pets, many of us having dogs out there, Expired Foods takes a look at the most interesting, unique dog food ads I've seen in a long time. Hell these ads make me want to buy it and I don't even have a dog.

Strangest meat product I can remember

While looking for a picture of Head Cheese for my last post, I came across a most interesting formed meat (?) product. This meat could revolutionize how kids everywhere eat and potentially put Kraft right out of the Cheese and Macaroni business. (Click picture for bigger version.)

It comes in many names and varieties:
Black pudding - UK - pigs blood, pork fat and cereal (oatmeal and or barley)
Drisheen - Ireland - as above but with lamb's blood
Boudin noir - France - pigs blood, pork fat, breadcrumbs, brandy or calvados and cream
Morcilla - Spain - pigs blood, pork fat, paprika, cooked long grain rice, sherry and sometimes raisins
Blutwurst - Germany - pigs blood, diced bacon and lungs
But it is unique no matter how you slice it... Blood Pudding.

Rootworm Beetle Dip
Ingredients:
2 cup low-fat cottage cheese
1 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
2 tablespoons skim milk
1/2 cup reduced calorie mayonnaise
1 tablespoon parsley, chopped
1 tablespoon onion, chopped
1 1/2 tsp. dill weed
1 1/2 tsp. Beau Monde
1 cup dry-roasted rootworm beetles
Directions:
Blend first 3 ingredients. Add remaining ingredients and chill.
